For the given assignment, it was essential to define an effective communication channel for the purposes of general communication and group collaboration. Firstly, we set up a Facebook Group to broadcast meetings, allow for individual enquiries and to ensure that everyone is up to date with the process of the project and our individual roles and responsibilities.
In addition, in my own time I set up a collaborative Google Drive folder which was named our team name ‘Appsolute’. The folders sharing options had to be edited to ‘anyone with the link can edit’, in doing so it allowed me to post a link on the Facebook Group and then all team members who clicked on the link could edit and upload as they wish, to the designated folder. Furthermore, what I found to be really effective in using Google Drive is that it shows the activity of the folder with regards to any changes made to documents, who made those changes and also new uploads or deleted folders. This is extremely effective and can be utilised to show our individual contributions to the project, within the end assessment.
Furthermore, the project required for a group collaborative blog, in which there are multiple contributors. This blogs purpose is for project assessment at the end of the project, to further demonstrate each individuals contribution. In setting up, I created the blog website in WordPress.com and named the URL ‘teamappsolute.wordpress.com’. To allow for multiple contributors I clicked onto my dashboard, ‘users’ and then ‘invite new’. I then entered in each team members email address, entered there role as ‘editor’ and then clicked ‘send’. In doing so all team members had an email inviting them to become an editor to this blog.
After all team members had accepted this invitation I gained a user list of editors as shown below:
I believe that the overall communication for the project has been strategically planned and implemented. All sources of communication are to include the following: Facebook, Github, WordPress & Google Drive. Github is to be used at a later date for the digital upload of our App element.
