Manipulating Individual Pixels in an Image

I started looking into different ways in which you could take each individual pixel from an image and then manipulate and transform these pixels into shapes, such as an ellipse() and rectangle(); as well as experimenting with the creation of blur between pixels using the loadPixels function. By doing so I was able to create both a tiled photo effect as well as a blurred photo effect with the use of Processing.

This is the original image I chose to use for manipulation and below are my manipulated versions of this image.

The tiled ellipse image is far clearer to the eye and the image which was blurred is more distorted, it would be really interesting to play on this idea of distortion by applying randomisation to each pixel.

In addition I think it would be fascinating to see if the same effects can be applied to real time video, this could be something I could investigate further.
